By default the Compustar, Arctic Start and NU-Start remote-start/alarm modules are not programmed out of the box to communicate with the Fortin 2-way data-link protocol. These modules must have a programming Group, Option (4-11) changed to Optional Setting 2 to communicate with Fortin bypass modules through the RS-232 2-way Data-Link plug.

Option Programming using a 1-way Remote:

  1. Hold down the LOCK + START buttons for 2.5 seconds, then release. The parking lights will flash once to confirm.
  2. Hold down the LOCK + START buttons again for another 2.5 seconds, then release. The parking lights will flash once to confirm.
  3. Press the TRUNK + START buttons for 2.5 seconds to scroll through the menu. Scroll to Option Number 11, thus press and release the TRUNK + START buttons: 11 times. The park lights will flash and/or the siren will chirp for each step.
  4. Wait for the the park lights and/or siren to chirp 11 times to confirm that you are in Option Number 11.
  5. Press the UNLOCK button to Select Option Value 2.

The programming option is now changed and remote-starter/alarm is immediately taken out of programming mode. If an error was made start back from step 1.

Option Programming using a 2-way Remote:

  3. Wait for the the park lights and/or siren to chirp 11 times to confirm that you are in Option Number 11.
  4. Press button 2 (II) to Select Option Setting 2.

The programming option is now changed and remote-starter/alarm is immediately taken out of programming mode. If an error was made start back from step 1.

Option Programming using the OP-500:

  1.  Using the blue connector on top of the OP-500, connect it to the remote-starter/alarm module via the antenna wire (use the extension cable if necessary). Once connected the OP-500 will power up as long as the main ignition harness is properly connected to the vehicle.
  2. Use the LEFT and RIGHT arrows to scroll through the Option Menus and Numbers. Press and release the arrows until Option Menu 4-11 is selected.
  3.   Use the UP and DOWN arrows to scroll through the Option Settings. Press and release the arrows until Option Setting 2 is selected.
  4.    Press and hold the W button until the OP-500 chirps (2.5 seconds) to write the changes to the remote-starter/alarm.
  5.  Wait until the OP-500 displays "Success" before disconnecting the antenna cable.

We suggest to repeat step 1 to 3 to verified that the option 4-11 is well changed to #2.
