EVO-ONE does not remote start with OEM remote 2014 Highlander H-Key

I've validated the CAMBUS test and the EVO-ONE confirms good wire connections.  EVO-ONE was just master reset (bypass side) and reflashed with latest bypass and remote-start firmware.  After the initial programming, it learns the H-Key and recognizes the OEM key fob presses (blue flashes on module).  All OEM features work properly.

3x key press remote start not working.  In fact, when pressing lock 3x I notice the blue light seems it cannot "keep up" with every key press.  If I press the lock key on key fob 3 times in 3 seconds the blue light may blink 3 times but usually twice.

I am at a loss because before I was at least able to unlock then lock 4-6 times and the car would start but never respond to any OEM key fob presses for remote entry or remote shut down (only way for the remote start to be killed is to depress the brake pedal with no key in ignition, even inserting key... turning to RUN... then removing the key would not turn off the remote start).  It seems as if OEM key fob signals are hit are miss when communicating with the EVO-ONE module.  Validated wire connections and not using any t-taps.

When turning the key to the RUN position, you have to press the brake pedal for the remote start to disengage.

Can you try to program the module to lock-unlock-lock and see if it respond better ?

So I changed that option in the remote-starter side of the EVO-ONE with no luck.  In fact, I went ahead and tried to re-do the initial programming (key bypass learning, etc) again and now the module only has a red light blinking in 3 burst intervals on top of the evo-one.  What does that mean?

 

Also, I am having issues doing a master reset on the remote-starter side of the module.  The bypass side is easy.
Update:

Reflashed to latest firmware on bypass and remote starter side and performed master resets of each.  Reprogrammed via flashlink and installed into vehicle for key bypass programming.  Key bypass successful, however I am unable to get remote start to work at all.  I have not rewired the vehicle but I confirmed good connections and correct wiring according to guide #30751.  I'm really not sure how to proceed at this point.  I badly wish to use the OEM remote monitoring, but it's as if the EVO-ONE doesn't care for it even though it sees me issuing remote commands.
Does the blue LED flash every time you press the lock button ?
Yes, it does.  Really any command issued by the OEM key fob is detected.  It just does not want to remote start any more.  Oddly enough, it did work at one time (repeatable) but just not by the programmed sequence.  I keep seeing things about running dcryptor when programming.  I do not see that option, so I do not believe I've done that?

I've changed the programming several times since the last time a Fortin rep has checked it so I've probably completely mangled the programming by now.  Also, when attempting to do a master reset on the remote starter side, it seems as though the valet button that was included with the unit does nothing.  I have not been able to conjure any response from the module or car using the valet button.
You dont need dcryptor on this vehicle.

Does anything happen at all when trying to start via 3xlock? You are looking to see if the red led on the top of the unit is turning on, and if ignition is ever turning on. If parking lights are connected, the remote start would also flash the lights x-amount of times indicating why it did not start. These diagnostic codes can be found on the last page of the quick install guide that came in the box.

As for programming via the valet button. This is to access the 39 options avaible on the the "remote start" side of the evo-one. If the unit is "armed" (last command seen was lock), it would not allow you to enter programming. This is a safety feature. Pressing unlock on the oem remote would disarm the system since you have C1 and 38.2 enabled. Enabling and then disabling valet mode would also disarm the system.
No, nothing happens during 3x lock key sequence.  I see the blue flashes when I press the lock key on the OEM remote but no other lights turn on after that sequence is pressed.  When I crank the vehicle normally, I do see an amber light on the module which I believe is normal.

Previously, if I would hit unlock and lock 4-6 times it would eventually crank then the OEM remote would not respond any further (including for keyless entry).

I will investigate the "armed" suggestion with entering programming mode, though I am standing outside the vehicle after the door has been opened after pressing unlock on the OEM keyfob to enter.  I will also try to enter valet mode as a suggestion.

I have the wiring run exactly as depicted in installation guide #30751 with the A12 wire run to the Lt. Green wire on the 18th pin position of the parkling light switch/connector yet I cannot confirm that the EVO-ONE module itself has actually initiated any light flashes itself or if it was the product of the OEM system.

Are all my options on the module (both sides) correct?  Or should I modify anything?

I'm beginning to wonder if this unit is faulty.

Heres some suggestions. Your settings all seem fine.

  • Make sure doors are all closed when testing. The install simulates oem remote start and it's possible with the door open, it would not remote start. 
  • The yellow loop on the back of the unit needs to be cut if the vehicle is automatic.
  • The evo-one has a set of diagnostic codes to help troubleshoot. when attempting to remote start, if it fails, the unit will flash the parking lights X-amount of times. Last page of the quick install guide found in the box shows what the different light flashes mean. How many times does it flash for you?

 

The 3 leds on top of the unit can also help diagnose. As you saw, the blue led flashes on every lock press, this is good sign. What about the red led, does it ever turn on after pressing 3x lock?

 

I would jsut call support though. This sounds like a very simple fix and might be easier and faster, to just talk to someone directly.

I can confirm all of the suggestions you mentioned have been followed except for the diagnostic via parking lights.  I have had no parking light flashes outside of actuating the lock and unlock commands via the OEM key fobs.  My wife has taken the vehicle in question on a business trip but when she returns I will contact Fortin.

 

Once she returns, I'll capitalize on the good weather by verifying all electrical connections according to the install guide (#30751) and I will validate the module's programming once more.  Thank you.  I will update this threat upon new findings.

So I gave up for several months and revisited tonight.  I flashed to the latest recommended firmwares for the bypass and remote start sides.  I am able to control all features of the vehicle when it is in the off position.  I am now able to remote start with repeatable results.

Problem: I am unable to issue any commands with the OEM keyfob including but not limited to:  Unlock doors after remote start, open trunk, lock commands, etc.  I am also unable to perform the LOCK 3x and remove key from ignition to leave vehicle running.

I need to align my schedule so I can actually call support, but this all sounds like I'm requiring the use of a 3rd party remote kit which is a buzz kill because the wife's key fob is built into her key.  +1 to key ring bulk

Please call us directly once you have the vehicle and are ready to run through a few test with support.  Sounds like the vehicles OEM remote simply seizes to function when the vheicle is started. Typically this should also be happening if you were to simply start the car with the key itself.
