RF642W and Evo One Settings

0 votes
Hello

I want to use a RF642W RF Kit with my EVO One. In the remote start side, what do I set my option to. Is it

Fortin FM or Fortin AM or Fortin 2.

Thanks in advance.

If the Evo-One has never been paired with any other RF kit there is nothing you would need to set, out of the box it will pair with that RF kit.

If the unit has been paired with another brand/model of RF kit, then a full master reset (function 23 via the valet switch) will need to be done, THEN Fortin2 will need to be set in the offline menu in the remote starter side of the EVO-ONE and saved.

Thank you,

Hi Rico

Thanks for that. At the moment the Evo One is paired with a DEI XL202. If I do a master reset will I have to go through the decryptor process again? Would it work if I just change the option to Fortin 2 and save. It took me a long time to get the decryptor process to work initially so I would rather not do it again unless absolutely necessary.

Yes you should be able to simply select fortin 2 and the program the remote. If this does not work at that point you may need to perform the master reset. Also the master reset ricco was refering to is on the remote starter NOT the bypass. So your programming will not be erased.
Dcryptor is not affected by changes on the remote starter side of the module.

You can try doing that, but if it does not work, you have no choice but to do master reset via the valet switch and then go back into the offline menu and select Fortin 2 and save it in the offline menu box

Remote starter Reset procedure found here (will not affect bypass)

Thanks everyone for your input. I will post my results.
Well I paired the RF642W RF Kit and yes I had to do a master reset which once you do it  is not a big deal after all. The remotes paired perfectly but then the problems started. The Evo is set for driver door priority but when I hit unlock , it wont unlock. every time. I'd say 50%. The siren chirps and the alarm disarms everytime, so its getting the signal. If I hit unlock a second time all doors unlock most of the time. Now if I dont open any door, after 30 seconds it should relock but it does not. Again the siren chirps and the alarm sets but no lock. I know the alarm sets because if i open the door the alarm goes off. Also if it does unlock the drivers door only and is left for thirty seconds, again it chirps, sets the alarm but does not lock. I have tried single pulses, double pulses, long and short pulses to no avail. I was thinking of trying to hardwire the lock/unlock. I did not have this problem with the Xl202. The remote start and aux function work perfectly. The biggest problem for me is that it does not relock in case of accidental button push.

Looking at your service number, I see a lot of options in the remote starter side that should not have been normally enabled.

Like Function 2, 6, 8, 18(is this vehicle diesel?) 24, 33(is this vehicle manual?) 37, 38

I would start off by either turning off those options or doing another master reset and only enable 38.2 (if you want to be able to start but not stop via 3xlock) and you can enable the lock after start in the bypass side, option D5 or D2 does the same thing but unlocks before start if the vehicle has an oem alarm system.

I will have to check if Priority door locks is supported in this model, not all vehicles support this feature,

One thing to understand in the evo-one options tabs is "just because it's there, does not mean it will work in your vehicle"  when compatible we put the compatible options in the first page of the guides.

Thank you,
Hi Rico.

Yes the vechicle is diesel and yes it is automatic. Option 2 is not enabled because I enabled Option 31.6 as I needed another park light output. I enabled Option 6.3 to make sure the doors were locked during remote start. I will change this in the bypass side. I dont need it to unlock/relock to cancel oem alarm. Option 8 is enabled because I was trying different pulse options. Option 18, the vechicle is diesel. Option 24 and 33 are enabled by accicdent. Option 37 is enabled because I thought if someone forced the door during remote start the engine would shut down. Option 38.4 is enabled because I thought I needed it to disable Evo alarm when using oem fob to unlock doors. I have no interest in 3XLock start so if I disable Option 38 will the evo alarm go off when I use the oem fob

38.4 will only do alarm control , no 3x lock. Just be sure to mention to the client that the remote is not detected if the car is started/remote started.

For the unlock driver door only, I am wondering if the option B1 is still on. I see it on with the service number but if at anytime a reset on the bypass was done then reprogrammed/dcrypted, the option would be off and i wouldn't be able to see it with the service number.

Hi Rob

Yes Option B1 is on because I want driver door priorty. Should I turn it off? Its not the end of the world if I cant use it. Also is it ok to leave 38.4 enabled or would it be better to disable it.

Best Regards

Pat

38.4 can be left on

B1 should be on if you want the driver door priority. It's supposed to work on the cruze. Is driver door priority still working off the factory fob?

EDIT: I would suggest putting version 1.21 in the remote starter firmware. No need to reprogram anything, just flash and reconnect to car.

Hi Rob

Driver door priorty works on the factory fob. I will flash new firmware and get back to you.

Hi Rob

I done master reset and flashed FW ver 1.21. I paired the RF632W remotes with no problems. Remote start, door lock/unlock/auto relock during remote start, and aux all work perfectly. Its when I try to unlock only that it dont work most of the time (not during remote start). Any time that it did unlock, it would not auto relock if no door was opened. This was my main concern in case of accidental button push. Eventually I hardwired the lock output to the driver door lock switch and it works flawlessy ie if it does unlock it will auto relock all the time. This setup suits me perfectly. Again the driver door priorty works ok during  remote start. On a different note, I sent you an email address to send the trainig guide you mentioned in a different post.

Best Regards

Pat
Hi Pat,

Wish I could, but that training guide has been unavailable for the last 2 years. It was aimed mostly for sales, retailers and distributors. I cannot send it out. An update to the Flash-Link User guide is coming in the following weeks which has all details of options in the EVO-ALL and EVO-ONE.

For your priority unlock, if I am reading this right, it works fine once the car is remote started but not when the car is off? And for auto-relock, connecting the analog wires got it working ?  All I can really do for this now  is a open a report ( which i thank you for the feedback on this install). Is this a Hatchback Cruze or the sedan? With or without Onstar ?

There is though something you can try, connect the main harness 6-pin connector PINK ignition wire to the unused Yellow wire hanging off the t-harness. This will force the unit to always be detecting ignition on-off states. The reasoning is that Ignition off or on, the module uses different can codes on many vehicules, this will force it in the right modes.
Hi Rob.

I tried joining the ignition wires but it made no difference. As I said it works ok now with the analog lock wire connected. Its a hatchback with Onstar. Thanks again for all your help.

Best Regards
