2014 CX-5 EVO one THAR MAZ3 used to work ok but now not unlocking and start button blinks amber

0 votes
Installed a Evo one with THAT MAZ3 harness and worked fine for a while. Occasionally would have issue with not doing a standard door unlock from remote. Now never unlocks with standard remote, have to use physical key, and will not push to start, have to hold key up next to button. Push button in car blinks amber. Have changed out key battery many times but no better.

This happens when keys are added to the car. The module recognizes the keys in the first 2 slots of the bcm.

This happens when the battery of the car was never disconnected during the install. There is a big fat note in the guide for that. Failure to do so can cause damage to the smart key antenna (located in the trunk).  But, go inspect your harness to ensure all connectors are fully seated and clipped into their proper spot at that smart module.

Thanks Rob. I'm still using the OEM keys, never added any other than the 2 that came with the car. I did disconnect the battery during installation. This issue didn't occur right away but after a few months. Will check cable connection.
Check those connectors, especially if you have a telescopic steering column.

If it is telescopic, pull it all the way out when securing everything.
Thanks for the help! Checked the connection and one of them was not flush/fully in. Fully plugging it in fixed everything.
